System Overview

The OFC accreditation system quite simply provides an objective assessment of your operation’s compliance with the Standards against which we audit.

In the case of Organic farming against The National Standard for Organic & Biodynamic Produce and the OFC standards, in the case of an Organic livestock enterprise, The National Standard for Organic & Biodynamic Produce and the OFC Standards plus a recognized code of practice for the welfare of that type of livestock.

How will you know the Standards?

When you become a client you receive a production procedure manual which contains the following:

  • Production Procedures - which indicates all the critical control points (management and hands on) that you need to ensure are adequately handled by your system. This procedure points to all of the elements or tasks which you need to consider in producing an Organic crop or livestock. The procedure indicates the management and practical inputs you will need to undertake to ensure the task is completed properly and tells you the type of record you’ll need to keep to verify that you did in fact do the job properly - accordingly to the standard.
  • A recording Schedule - which may follow the format of the production procedures, to record all those aspects of your farm management which will objectively demonstrate to the auditor that you’re farming organically. You need a farm diary and then you might like to group all like activities such as cattle production, crops etc. as a secondary record system.
  • Some handy hints on record keeping - Time savers
  • Copies of relevant Codes for your industry - e.g. Hard Green Criteria for Banana Growers in Fruit Fly areas.
  • A Training Matrix - on which you can easily record the level of skills of each of the people working on your property ( including yourself )
  • Maximum Residue Schedule - which lists all chemicals input & allowable dosage.
  • Declaration to abide by OFC Terms & Conditions
  • Notes on Risk Management

We basically provide you with all the tools to get you going and keep you on track.

We also provide a technical advice service which can assist with most enquiries on the spot and help out with the things we left out of the manuals.
